Facebook & Skype Come Together
Facebook and Skype announced yesterday that they have partnered up to release a video chat feature that allows Facebook users to video chat without the need to download any 3rd party software. This, in addition to Facebook also releasing a group chat feature, overshadowed the “not-so-important” 750 million user mark, a milestone which Mark Zuckerberg believes is just a stepping stone to their coveted 1 billion users goal, which he feels is close at hand. Considering it was only a year ago that Facebook released their Groups feature, having a Skype video chat client built into Facebook with no need for any 3rd party programs or downloads is a pretty big deal.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
On Facebook alone, 4 billion “things” are being shared everyday. Images, videos, articles, information – anything that is shareable. The amount of people that regularly use Facebook is growing and the ease of communicating and sharing information is becoming more prevalent and accessible.
This is where people are, and where people are, is where you want your business to be. This is a huge resource and means of keeping in touch with your customers and clients personally, without having to address each one individually. Facebook is steadily growing in popularity, having already partnered up with Microsoft and now Skype, we know the stability of this forum is there, and the potential of capturing your audience is just a couple clicks away.
Whether you’re an online business, a local business, or a nationwide chain, staying relevant and current is key in capturing and keeping the public’s attention. We all see where the market trends are pointing, as sharing information has increased steadily over the past couple years, and will only continue to do so exponentially.
